Description
Cap: 4-10cm Brown. initially slightly scurfy, later smooth and cracking.
Stem: Yellow at the apex turning red lower down.
Tubes: Yellow at first. Becoming greenish yellow later.
Pores: Irregularly angular, large.
Spores: Walnut brown
Flesh: Pale yellow in the cap. Red or ochre in the stem base.
Habitat: On the ground with deciduous trees
