Cauliflower Fungus (Sparassis crispa)

Preserving: Dries easily.

Fruit body: size 20-40cm; colour cream; a mass of flattened lobes on branching stems.

Spore surface: colour buff.

Spores: pale cream / yellow.

Flesh: colour white / pale cream.

Habitat: found growing singly at the base of pine trees or pine stumps.

Frequency: frequent.
