Eating notes: Redcurrants are quite sharp when eaten raw, but have a good fruity flavour. Can be mixed into a fruit salad with other less sharp berries.
Redcurrants can also be used for savoury sauces and Redcurrant jelly.

Description
Foraged Redcurrants may be genuinely wild native plants or cultivated garden escapes.
Height: 100 - 160cm
Leaves: Broad with 3 or 5 lobes and a bluntly-toothed edge.
Flowers: Small clusters of tiny 5-petalled pale flowers.
Stems: Plants form a clump of upright woody stems. Stems are smooth and green/brown in their first year, but darkening with age.
Fruit: Several translucent small red berries on drooping strigs.
